The Open Burning Season commences on January 15th and concludes on May 1st of each year.

During the Open Burning Season, a permit must be obtained from the Harvard Fire Department.  The Fire Chief reserves the right to deny open burning on any day due to weather or environmental conditions.

The fee for a resident open burning permit is $10/season. Open burning in Massachusetts is regulated by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection and enforced by the Harvard Fire Department.
